What Are Blockchain Gas Fees? Why You Need Native Tokens to Transact

Every time you make a transaction on a blockchain, the network has to process it. To do this, the blockchain charges a small payment called a gas fee (sometimes also called a network fee).

This money doesn’t go to your wallet provider – it goes to the blockchain’s network of computers that confirm and secure transactions.

When you use Zypto App, you’re interacting directly with blockchains in a fully decentralized way.

Zypto never charges hidden fees. Like every other DeFi wallet, transactions on blockchains require gas fees – and these are charged by the blockchain, not by Zypto.

Why Do Gas Fees Change?

Gas fees aren’t fixed. They go up or down depending on how busy the blockchain is:

  • If lots of people are using the network at once, fees will be higher
  • If the network is quiet, fees will be lower

This means you can sometimes save money by waiting until the network is less busy before making your transaction.

Different Blockchains, Different Fees

All blockchain transactions require the network’s native token in order to complete successfully.

For example, if you’re sending USDT on Ethereum, you’ll also need a small amount of ETH in your wallet to pay the gas fee. The USDT itself cannot be used – only ETH can.

The same is true across other blockchains: you’ll always need the native token of the network you’re using in your wallet to pay the blockchain fee.

Here are some common examples:

  • On Ethereum (ERC-20), you need ETH for gas
  • On Binance Smart Chain (BEP-20), you need BNB
  • On Tron (TRC-20), you need TRX

Without the native token, your transaction cannot be processed – even if you have the asset you want to send.

Paying for Zypto Products in the App

You will need the native token for the blockchain you’re using in order to complete your order successfully.

When you buy a Zypto product or service through Zypto App (such as a card, mobile top-up, or bill payment), there are two separate costs:

  1. Zypto’s product fee – always upfront, transparent, and clearly published on our website
  2. The blockchain gas fee – required by the blockchain network you’re using to process the transaction

Zypto never adds hidden charges. You’ll always see exactly what you’re paying to Zypto for the product – and the blockchain’s gas fee will be shown to you before you confirm the transaction.

If the gas fee seems high, you’ll have the option to:

  • Switch to a different blockchain with lower fees
  • Wait until network activity drops and fees go down

This gives you full visibility and control before you complete your transaction.
