Pay Abroad FAQs

What is Pay Abroad?

Pay Abroad lets you hold USDC or USDT in your Zypto App wallet and pay merchants or send to people in their local currency. Powered by Abroad, your stablecoin is converted and the merchant or recipient receives their local currency over the local payment rails they already use. It is live in Brazil (Pix) and Colombia (Nequi and Bre-B).

What do I pay with?

A stablecoin, USDC or USDT, held in your own Zypto App wallet on Stellar, Solana or Celo. When you pay, Abroad converts it so the merchant or recipient receives their local currency. You do not need to hold their local currency, and they do not need any crypto.

Which countries are supported?

Brazil and Colombia, with more on the way. Each uses the local rails people already trust, Pix in Brazil and Nequi in Colombia.

Do I need a local bank account?

No. You hold USDC or USDT in your own non-custodial Zypto wallet and pay over the local rails. Abroad converts your stablecoin and the merchant or recipient receives their local currency, no local bank account is required on your side.

Does the person I pay need crypto?

No. Merchants and recipients receive their local currency directly, BRL or COP, with no crypto knowledge needed.

How fast is it?

Fast, and fees are transparent, you see the exact fee before you confirm. Payments typically settle in 3 to 30 seconds.
