What is SATS (Ordinals)?
SATS (Ordinals) is a meme token built directly on the Bitcoin blockchain using the BRC-20 token standard. It is named after the satoshi, Bitcoin's smallest unit, and its total supply of 2.1 quadrillion is set to represent 100 million satoshis for each of Bitcoin's 21 million coins. SATS was a fair-launch token for the Bitcoin community.
BRC-20 tokens are created through Ordinals inscriptions, which write JSON data onto individual satoshis to define and manage fungible tokens on Bitcoin. SATS emerged in 2023 as part of that movement and became one of the larger BRC-20 names by trading volume.
SATS has little inherent utility and is driven mainly by speculation, so treat it as a high-risk memecoin. As a decentralized BRC-20, it has no single official company behind it.
You can follow the SATS price and hold SATS in a self-custody wallet.
