What is Amp?
Amp (AMP) is a digital collateral token built on Ethereum as an ERC-20 asset. It launched on the Ethereum mainnet in September 2020, developed in collaboration with the Flexa payments network. Its purpose is to act as collateral that backs payments, so a transaction can settle quickly while the underlying transfer waits for network confirmation.
In practice, AMP is staked into collateral pools tied to the Flexa network. The staked tokens guarantee payments and reduce settlement risk, and stakers can earn additional AMP as a reward for providing that collateral. The token itself does not run a separate blockchain; it lives on Ethereum and follows the ERC-20 standard.
AMP has been live for several years and has an established record as a collateral asset, though its value remains closely tied to the adoption of the payment systems that use it.
You can follow the Amp price and hold AMP in a self-custody wallet.
