What is Beam?

Beam is a blockchain network focused on gaming and related applications, launched by the group formerly known as Merit Circle DAO. It runs as its own Avalanche layer-1, and the wider ecosystem spans gaming, NFTs, real-world assets, and other Web3 projects. The project markets itself as a home for developers and creators building interactive digital experiences. BEAM is the network's native token. It is used to pay for activity across the Beam ecosystem and for governance, and it is EVM-compatible and available on Ethereum, Base, and Avalanche. The supply is large, measured in tens of billions of tokens, and the project describes a buy-and-burn mechanism intended to reduce supply over time. Beam went live in August 2023 and has an established ecosystem, though, like most gaming-focused networks, its long-term adoption depends on the games and applications built on it.
