What is Rocket Pool?
Rocket Pool is a decentralized staking protocol for Ethereum. It lets people who do not have the full 32 ETH needed to run a validator still earn staking rewards by depositing ETH and receiving rETH, a liquid token that represents their stake and the rewards it accrues over time. It also lets node operators run validators with a smaller ETH deposit than solo staking requires.
The protocol runs on Ethereum and launched on mainnet in October 2021. RPL is its token. Node operators post RPL as collateral alongside their ETH, which acts as a shared insurance buffer for the people whose ETH they stake. RPL holders also govern the protocol DAO, voting on parameters and upgrades.
Rocket Pool is one of the longer-running liquid staking options on Ethereum. You can monitor the Rocket Pool price and keep RPL in a wallet where you control the private keys.
