What is Citrea?
Citrea is a zero-knowledge rollup that aims to scale Bitcoin and make it programmable. It uses ZK technology and a trust-minimized BTC bridge to bring smart-contract style applications to the Bitcoin economy, while settling security back to the Bitcoin network.
CTR is Citrea's coordination and governance asset. Holders can stake CTR to receive xCTR, a non-transferable token that grants voting rights over the project's treasury under a vote-escrow style model. The CTR token launched in 2026 with a capped supply of 10 billion, the majority allocated to the community, and trading opened across several major exchanges that May.
As a newly launched token for an early-stage Bitcoin scaling layer, CTR carries the risks typical of young infrastructure projects.
