Toshi (TOSHI) is a memecoin on Base, Coinbase's Ethereum layer-2 network. It is named after a cat belonging to Coinbase co-founder Brian Armstrong, itself a nod to Bitcoin's pseudonymous creator Satoshi Nakamoto, and has become an unofficial community mascot for the Base chain.
TOSHI is an ERC-20 token on Base and launched in August 2023, around the time Base went live. Its value is driven mainly by community interest and meme culture rather than a specific product, though the project has added community tools and a DAO structure over time.
