What is Orbs?
Orbs is a decentralized execution layer that describes itself as a Layer-3, sitting on top of existing EVM Layer-1 and Layer-2 chains to extend what their smart contracts can do. Its focus is advanced on-chain trading, providing infrastructure for aggregated liquidity, advanced order types, and other DeFi strategies that are hard to run on a single base chain alone.
The ORBS token is used to pay for execution on the network and to power its incentive system. Token holders stake ORBS to elect and back the validators, called Guardians, that run the proof-of-stake network, and staking also carries governance rights and rewards.
Orbs was founded in 2017 and its Layer-3 work has been integrated with a range of decentralized exchanges across multiple chains.
