GHO is a decentralized US dollar stablecoin designed to hold a value of around one dollar. It is generated against collateral supplied within a major decentralized lending protocol, making it a crypto-collateralized stablecoin rather than one backed by cash reserves held by a company.
GHO runs on Ethereum and other networks, including Arbitrum, Base, and Avalanche, so it can be used across decentralized finance. Its peg is maintained through collateral and protocol mechanisms governed by the community.
