What is Blast?

Blast is an Ethereum layer 2, built as an optimistic rollup that is EVM compatible. Its defining feature is native yield: ETH and supported stablecoins bridged to Blast automatically earn a return, because the protocol routes those assets into established Ethereum yield sources and rebases the proceeds back to wallets and contracts on the L2.

BLAST is the network's governance token. It launched in June 2024 and was distributed largely through an airdrop to early users who earned points and Blast Gold during the platform's incentive phase. The token is used for protocol governance.

Blast was created by the team behind the Blur NFT marketplace. As a newer L2, its long-term position depends on developer adoption and the external protocols its yield relies on, so it carries the usual risks of an early-stage scaling network.

You can follow the Blast price and hold BLAST in a self-custody wallet.

How is Blast priced?

The Blast price you see is an average of live trades from exchanges worldwide, weighted by volume so the busiest markets count for most. It refreshes continuously, day and night. Because it trades continuously and worldwide, the price can move sharply within a single day. Past performance is no guarantee of future results, and nothing here is financial advice.

Where can I hold Blast?

You can hold Blast in any non-custodial wallet, which means you control the private keys rather than trusting an exchange. Blast isn't in the Zypto App yet. If you'd like it added, tweet @ZyptoApp on X.
