What is Paycoin?

Paycoin (PCI) is a blockchain payment token built for real-world spending. It was developed by Danal, a South Korean payment company, to let people use digital assets at everyday merchants and to reduce the fees and settlement delays of traditional payment rails. In Korea it has been accepted at a range of online and offline stores, including well-known franchise chains. The token runs on a permissioned blockchain built with Hyperledger Fabric, where only authorized nodes validate transactions, a setup aimed at fast and private payment processing. Paycoin's consumer app launched in 2019, with the wider project later working to extend the payment network beyond the Korean market.
