What is Zest Protocol?
Zest Protocol is a Bitcoin-focused lending and borrowing platform built on Stacks, a Bitcoin layer. Users can deposit assets such as sBTC, STX, stSTX, and USDC to earn yield, or borrow against Bitcoin collateral instead of leaving it idle. The project has also introduced Bitcoin collateral vaults that let holders borrow stablecoins while keeping BTC on the Bitcoin base layer.
ZEST is the protocol's governance and utility token. Holders vote on parameters like interest rate models, collateral factors, and which assets are listed, and the token is linked to fees from lending and borrowing activity. Total supply is 1 billion. The protocol has been live on Stacks since 2024 and is backed by several crypto venture firms.
As a Bitcoin DeFi protocol, Zest carries the usual smart-contract and lending risks, so review the current markets before depositing.
You can follow the Zest Protocol price and hold ZEST in a self-custody wallet.
