What is WAX?
WAX, the Worldwide Asset eXchange, is a layer 1 blockchain built for digital collectibles, NFTs, gaming, and e-commerce applications. It is designed to make creating, trading, and distributing digital items straightforward for brands and creators, and it has hosted NFT collections from a range of entertainment and sports brands.
The network uses a delegated proof of stake consensus, which keeps fees low and energy use modest compared with proof of work chains. WAXP is the native token: it pays for network resources, is staked to help secure the chain and choose block producers, and is used in governance. WAX launched its mainnet in 2019 and has built a large base of decentralized applications and users in the NFT and gaming space.
