What is Wormhole?
Wormhole is a cross-chain messaging protocol that moves assets and data between different blockchains. Instead of locking value to one network, applications use Wormhole to pass tokens and instructions across many ecosystems, and the protocol reports connections to more than 45 chains including Solana, Ethereum, Arbitrum, Base, BNB Chain, and Avalanche.
W is the protocol's native governance token. It launched on April 3, 2024 through an airdrop to early users of the bridge and its connected apps, distributed across multiple chains, and it gives holders a vote in how the protocol is run. W is native to Solana and exists on the other networks Wormhole supports.
