What is Status?
Status is an open-source app that combines a private messenger, a self-custody crypto wallet, and a Web3 browser in one place. It is designed to give users encrypted communication and access to decentralized applications while keeping control of their keys, with an emphasis on privacy and censorship resistance.
SNT, the Status Network Token, is the ecosystem's utility token. It is an ERC-20 token on Ethereum and is used for actions such as registering usernames, voting on communities and proposals, and other in-app functions. Status raised funds in a June 2017 ICO, one of the larger token sales of that period, and the project has continued to develop its app and a related network over the years.
