What is Snowbank?
Snowbank is a decentralized reserve currency protocol built on the Avalanche network. It is a fork of the OlympusDAO model, where the SB token is backed by a treasury of assets rather than pegged to a fiat currency, and the protocol uses staking and bonding mechanics to manage supply.
SB is the protocol's reserve token. Holders can stake it to earn rewards or mint it by bonding assets into the Snowbank DAO treasury, which the DAO governs. It launched in late 2021 during the wave of OlympusDAO-style reserve currency forks.
As an older DeFi reserve project, Snowbank is a niche, low-liquidity asset. The team later wound the protocol down as interest in rebasing reserve currencies faded, offering holders a fixed USDC redemption. Treat it as a legacy, high-risk holding and research the current state of the project before engaging.
You can track the Snowbank price and hold SB in a self-custody wallet.
