What is Ronin?
Ronin is a blockchain built specifically for games. It was created by Sky Mavis, the studio behind Axie Infinity, and began as an Ethereum sidechain designed to handle the high transaction volume that on-chain games generate. It is EVM compatible, so developers can deploy Ethereum-style applications on it with familiar tooling.
The RON token launched in 2022 and is the network's native asset. It pays for transaction fees, can be staked to help secure the network, and carries governance rights over how Ronin develops. The chain has since moved to align more closely with Ethereum, and it hosts a range of games and NFT activity beyond its original title.
Because Ronin is tied closely to the gaming sector, its usage tends to follow how active those games are. You can track the Ronin price and hold RON in a self-custody wallet.
