What is eBTC?
Ether.fi Staked BTC, traded as eBTC, is a Bitcoin liquid restaking token issued by ether.fi. It lets holders put Bitcoin-pegged assets to work in staking and restaking while keeping a liquid, tradable token they can use elsewhere in DeFi. Deposits are made with wrapped Bitcoin assets, and the token tracks the value of the underlying Bitcoin plus accrued yield.
eBTC runs as an ERC-20 token on Ethereum. The underlying Bitcoin is staked through Babylon and restaked across services such as EigenLayer, Symbiotic, and Karak, so the token is designed to earn from more than one source. Holding eBTC is a way to gain Bitcoin exposure that also captures restaking rewards.
As a yield-bearing restaking token, eBTC carries smart-contract and restaking risks beyond simply holding Bitcoin, so review how it is backed before using it.
You can follow the Ether.fi Staked BTC price and hold eBTC in a self-custody wallet.
