What is Cartesi?
Cartesi is an application-specific scaling framework that lets developers run a full Linux environment as the execution layer for blockchain applications. At its core is the Cartesi Machine, a deterministic RISC-V virtual machine that boots a real Linux distribution, so developers can build apps in mainstream languages such as Python, Rust, and C++ while settling on a blockchain for security.
Cartesi Rollups can be deployed as a layer 2 on Ethereum, as a layer 3 on networks like Optimism or Arbitrum, or as sovereign rollups, with on-chain dispute resolution settling disagreements. CTSI is the network's token, used for staking, validator rewards, fees, and governance. The project began in 2018 and its rollups framework later reached mainnet.
