AltLayer is a rollups-as-a-service protocol that helps developers launch layer 2 rollups with little custom code. Its main concept, called Restaked Rollups, applies restaked Ethereum security to new networks through three actively validated services: VITAL for state verification, MACH for faster finality, and SQUAD for decentralized sequencing. The framework supports several rollup stacks, including OP Stack, Arbitrum Orbit, ZK Stack, and Polygon CDK.
ALT is the protocol token. It is used to pay protocol fees, distribute incentives, stake as an economic bond securing the services, and vote on governance.
AltLayer is infrastructure aimed at the rollup and restaking ecosystem, an area that is still maturing, so adoption can shift quickly.
