EigenLayer, now operating under the EigenCloud name, introduced the concept of restaking on Ethereum. Restaking lets users put already-staked ETH to work securing additional services, extending Ethereum's security to other applications without requiring fresh capital for each one.
The EIGEN token supports this ecosystem of actively validated services. The project has been one of the more discussed developments in Ethereum infrastructure, opening a new way for protocols to bootstrap security.
