什麼是 Chia？

Chia is a layer 1 blockchain created by BitTorrent founder Bram Cohen, designed to be more energy-efficient than proof-of-work mining. Instead of solving computational puzzles, Chia uses a consensus method called Proof of Space and Time: participants, known as farmers, allocate unused hard-drive storage to plot files, and verifiable delay functions confirm the passage of time. The network uses its own smart-contract language, Chialisp, and keeps Bitcoin's UTXO model.

XCH is the native coin, used for transaction fees and to support on-chain smart contracts. The project was founded in 2017 and its mainnet launched in 2021.
