ConstitutionDAO (PEOPLE) is the token left over from a 2021 crowdfunding effort in which an online community pooled money to bid on a rare first-edition printing of the United States Constitution at a Sotheby's auction. The group raised tens of millions of dollars in Ethereum from thousands of contributors but was outbid, and the funds were made available for refund.
PEOPLE is an ERC-20 token on Ethereum that was issued to contributors. It carries no formal governance rights or product utility, and over time it has traded mainly as a community and memecoin-style asset tied to the story of the original campaign.
