PAX Gold, traded as PAXG, is a token backed by physical gold. Each token represents ownership of one fine troy ounce of gold held in professional vaults, so its price tracks the value of the underlying metal closely.
Launched in 2019 on Ethereum, PAXG gives people a way to hold gold exposure in digital form that can be moved and divided like other crypto assets. This makes precious-metal ownership easier to transfer than physical bars or coins.
