Arweave is a network built for permanent data storage. Instead of paying for storage on a recurring basis, users pay once to store data with the goal of keeping it accessible indefinitely, a model the project describes as the permaweb.
The AR token is used to pay for storage and to reward the operators who keep data available over time. Arweave has been used to store everything from web pages to application front ends and archival records.
