Ontology is a public blockchain focused on decentralized identity and data. Its main goal is to let people and organizations control their own digital identity and share verified information without relying on a central authority. The network launched its mainnet in 2018 and supports several virtual machines, including EVM, NeoVM, and WASM, so developers have more than one way to build on it.

Ontology uses a two-token model. ONT is staked for network governance and security, and holders earn ONG, a separate token that pays for transactions 和 smart contract execution. This separates the asset used for participation from the one used to cover network costs.
