META is the governance token of MetaDAO, a Solana project built around futarchy, a model where decisions are made through prediction markets instead of conventional token voting. MetaDAO launched in November 2023 with a small treasury and a fair launch that the team says had no private sale or insider allocation. In 2025 the project expanded into a token launchpad, using the same market-based governance to help fund new ventures on Solana. The META supply is governance-controlled, and this CoinGecko listing reflects the token's migrated contract after a rebrand.
