Babylon Genesis is a Cosmos SDK chain that combines its own Tendermint-style Proof of Stake with a Bitcoin staking protocol. BTC holders delegate their coins, which stay on the Bitcoin chain itself, to Finality Providers who participate in Babylon’s security process. If a Finality Provider acts maliciously, the delegated BTC stake can be slashed using an Extractable One-Time Signature scheme, giving the network an accountability mechanism without smart contracts on Bitcoin. BABY, the network’s own token, is staked alongside BTC in a dual-staking model, and stakers of both assets share in the network’s issuance.

Native BTC staking
Bitcoin never leaves the Bitcoin chain or gets wrapped into a synthetic asset. It is delegated to a Finality Provider while remaining Bitcoin-native.
Finality Providers
These are the operators BTC and BABY holders delegate to. They participate in Babylon’s finality process and can be penalized if they misbehave.
Dual-staking security
The network is secured by both delegated BTC and staked BABY at once, pairing Bitcoin’s economic weight with BABY’s role in coordinating the chain.
