The latest Zypto community X Space brought together some of the most passionate voices in crypto to discuss adoption, education, regulation, and the path to making ‘Freedom Money’ a global reality.

Held in our Zypto App channel, sponsored by Zypto Foundation and hosted by VoiceofDeFi, the discussion featured Joe Parkin, Co-Founder of Zypto, along with Decentralized Creative, a community member from Dash, Hive and Litecoin, Joel Valenzuela from Dash, and Bitcoin Cash OG from Bitcoin Cash. Each offered unique insights into the challenges and opportunities facing the crypto world today.

Building Awareness and Changing Perceptions

The conversation began with Joe sharing Zypto’s weekly ecosystem stats, including growth in app downloads, referral downloads, crypto cards, and ZYP Rewards awarded. From there, the discussion moved into a broader question: how is crypto’s reputation, and how can the crypto community change perceptions?

The group agreed that despite massive progress, the mainstream narrative around crypto is still dominated by stories of scams and speculation. As VoiceofDeFi put it,

‘People don’t hear about what actually works. Crypto is freedom money. It just works.

That idea set the tone for the session. The speakers explored how the community can do more to highlight real-world use cases, such as sending value from A to B instantly without banks or intermediaries. Joe pointed out that for many people, the concept of self-custody is still unfamiliar, but it is one of the most revolutionary shifts in modern finance.

Freedom Money and Self-Custody

Joe brought up the idea of bank runs, when confidence in a financial institution or even an entire economy collapses. In those moments, if everyone tries to withdraw their money at once, the banks simply don’t have enough real cash to cover all deposits. It’s a vivid reminder that what most people consider ‘their money’ is really just a promise on a balance sheet.

Self-custody changes that dynamic completely. When your assets are held in your own wallet, they are not at risk of a liquidity crisis or institutional freeze.

Decentralized Creative spoke about the real impact of this technology in regions like Central America and parts of Africa, where hyperinflation and banking restrictions have made traditional money systems unreliable. The example of the Canadian truckers’ protest also came up as a reminder that financial censorship can happen anywhere.

‘People think that can’t happen to them. But DeFi removes that risk. When you hold your own assets, you hold your freedom.’

The panelists agreed that the next frontier for crypto adoption is education and storytelling, showing how decentralized finance changes lives, not just portfolios.

Regulation and the Road Ahead

When the conversation turned to regulation, opinions varied but one thing was clear: balance is key. Joel Valenzuela emphasised that the industry needs clear frameworks that define what is legal, without overreach that could stifle innovation.

Decentralized Creative added that while some regulation may help legitimate businesses grow, it can also be a slippery slope. He said,

‘Once regulation expands too far, it can erode the very principles DeFi was built on.’

BitcoinCashOG said the only groups with funds to lobby regulation makers were the big exchages, and that traditionally, lobbyists lobbied for regulations that would serve only themselves.

VoiceOfDefi said that we could not, as a community, allow that to happen.

Joe echoed that sentiment, noting that what people want most is clarity, not control.

What’s Next for Zypto

Joe also shared updates on Zypto’s ecosystem, including new features coming to the Rewards Hub and the upcoming Gift Card Marketplace, which will soon be available directly inside Zypto App.

He added that Zypto will continue integrating more blockchains, noting that each new addition strengthens the entire DeFi ecosystem. Every integration contributes to the global growth of decentralized finance, expanding accessibility, interoperability, and overall crypto adoption.

All of these updates are a reflection of the very ‘Freedom Money’ concept discussed throughout the Space.

A Community on a Mission

The Space ended on a high note, with all speakers agreeing that crypto’s biggest challenge is also its greatest opportunity: education. The more people understand what decentralized technology enables, the stronger the movement becomes.

Zypto and the Zypto Foundation continue to support this mission by sponsoring open discussions, building practical tools, and fostering a community driven by innovation and freedom.

Special thanks to @VoiceofDeFi, @TheDesertLynx, , @web3creative_, and @BitcoinCashOG for joining the conversation.
